Man Collapses on Babylon Turnpike After Being Shot

Update - November 1, 2016 - Defendant Rhyan Greene, 20, of Roosevelt was arrested at 11:00pm at 12 Jefferson Avenue Roosevelt in connection with the below listed crime.  He is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.  He will be arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

Freeport, NY - November 1, 2016 - The Public Information Office reports the preliminary details of an incident that occurred on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 7:48 pm in Freeport.

At 7:44 pm First Precinct officers received a “Shot Spotter” call at Jefferson Avenue in Roosevelt. A short time later, at 7:48 pm, Freeport officers received a call for a male who collapsed on Babylon Turnpike and Woodside Avenue. It was then determined that the male was a victim of a gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

An investigation is underway to determine if the victim was in fact shot at the Jefferson Avenue location.
