Bridge to Be Dedicated For Nassau County Cop Killed in Line of Duty

Bellerose, NY - October 31, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Nassau County Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter will join with NYPD and Nassau County police officials, as well as relatives of deceased Nassau County Police Officer Arthur Lopez, to dedicate a bridge in his honor. Officer Lopez was fatally shot in October 2012 while trying to apprehend a hit-and-run driver near a bridge that carries Jamaica Ave. over the Cross Island Parkway. The bridge will be renamed the “Police Officer Arthur Lopez Memorial Bridge.” The event will take place on the west side of the bridge, in Bellerose, Queens, at 11AM on Sunday, November 1st, 2015. Officer Lopez, 29, served with the NCPD for 8 years. He was assigned to the Emergency Services Unit.
