Queens Man Arrested for Check Fraud in Carle Place

Carle Place, NY - November 1st, 2014 - The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Queens man on October 31, 2014 at 3:00 pm in Carle Place.
 
According to detectives, Peter Adjara, 42, of Buroden Road, opened a business checking account at the People’s National Bank, 95 Old Country Road using the identity of another who resided in Texas. Over the period of a few days, Adjara, who deposited fraudulent checks totaling $106,000.00, then made withdrawals on those checks amounting to $88,000.00.
 
A subsequent investigation led detectives to Adjara and his whereabouts. He was placed under arrest without incident.
 
The defendant is charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Five (5) counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Identity Theft 1st Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 11/01/2014.
