Mastic Beach, NY - November 1st, 2013 - The William Floyd Colonials will host the Longwood Lions on Saturday, November 2 at 2 pm for the second annual Parkway Power Bowl, a collaboration between the two school districts and the Suffolk County Police Department 7th Precinct centered on one of Suffolk County High School football’s biggest Division I rivalries. William Floyd won last year’s inaugural Parkway Power Bowl 38-6.

The Parkway Power Bowl named for the William Floyd Parkway which connects the two districts and is served by the 7th Precinct, is designed to promote the ideals of sportsmanship, goodwill, community relations and friendly competition.

“This game is a win-win for William Floyd and Longwood,” said Dr. Paul Casciano, Superintendent of Schools, William Floyd School District. “It builds camaraderie, sportsmanship and helps inspire the next generation of student athletes.”

“Both the 7th Precinct and our friends in the William Floyd School District have partnered with Longwood Central School District to highlight the true sense of competition and cooperation with the creation of the annual Parkway Power Bowl,” said Dr. Michael R. Lonergan, Superintendent of Schools, Longwood School District. “Our colleagues in the Suffolk County Police Department are a valued asset to both our communities.

SCPD 7th Precinct officers, team captains, youth football players and coaches will participate in a ceremonial coin toss before the game. Aside from bragging rights, the final score will be engraved on the Parkway Power Bowl Cup and the winning team will house it in their high school until the next matchup – similar to the Stanley Cup in the NHL. The Parkway Power Bowl Cup was donated by the William Floyd Alumni Association.
