Legislator Anker Honors Coram Fire Commissioner Van Johnson

Coram, NY - October 31, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker recently honored Coram Fire Department Commissioner Vandorn “Van” Johnson III as part of the Suffolk County Legislature Recognition Program for Firefighter and EMS Personnel. Each Legislator designated one outstanding firefighter or EMS personnel from his or her district to be recognized, and their names were read into the record of the October 2nd General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature.
Van Johnson has been a firefighter for over 50 years, in the communities of Hauppauge, Coram, and New York City. He has served as the Fire Commissioner of the Coram Fire Department for the past 32 years and has donated his time to various community organizations such as the Davis Meeting House Committee, the Coram Civic Association, and local Boy Scout Troop 560. He has worked closely with Legislator Anker’s office and other local organizations to help facilitate community events such as the Coram Concerts, addiction prevention programs, and Narcan trainings.
“I wholeheartedly thank Van for all that he has done to protect and better our community,” said Legislator Anker. “It is with great pleasure that I recognize him for his efforts to go above and beyond his duties to ensure that Coram is a great place to live for all.”
