Two William Floyd High School Tennis Players Earn All-State Honors

William Floyd High School juniors Anabel Van Cott and Lydia Van Cott, under the leadership of two-time USTA Coach of the Year Dave Pia, earned All-State honors after a second-place finish in the Suffolk County Doubles Tournament held at Smithtown East during the weekend of October 18-19.
 
As All-State honorees, both student-athletes competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls’ Tennis State Championships held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, Queens, on October 27.
 
In the competition, Anabel and Lydia defeated a team from Monroe County to advance to the sweet 16 round before losing to a team from the Ross School. “They had a great run and a great year,” said Coach Pia, adding that finishing among the “top 16 doubles teams in New York State is quite an accomplishment!”
