History: Photos of Manhansett Hotel on Shelter Island

Of all the excellent accommodations on Shelter Island, according to a June 7, 1885 article in the New York Times, the Manhanset (also spelled Manhansett) House was the largest and the finest.

 

These photos show the hotel around the turn of the 20th century as taken by Detroit Publishing Co.
