Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages Responds to Supervisor Anthony Santino's Announcement to Remove IDA Board

Written by Long Island News & PR  |  31. October 2016

Valley Stream, NY - October 27, 2016 - Today’s announcement by Town of Hempstead Supervisor Anthony Santino is a step in the right direction. These outrageous tax breaks contributed to hundreds of dollars in tax increases for Valley Stream residents. I implore the Town of Hempstead Council to support the Supervisor’s motion and replace the current responsible members with people who are committed to repealing the Green Acres Mall PILOT. Our community will accept nothing less. Furthermore, I ask Valley Stream residents to continue to voice their frustrations to their Town Of Hempstead Officials so that they will appoint IDA board members who will be receptive to their needs and concerns.

In addition, until we obtain the economic report, I call upon the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, and New York State tax departments to work collaboratively and take every measure within their power to freeze all applicable tax increases for homeowners within the Valley Stream Central High School District. It is only right that we take such action until the economic report is completed. I will, in my role as a New York State Elected Official, continue to advocate for board members who will put homeowners first.
