Greater Patchogue Foundation to Host Dia de los Muertos Celebration to Benefit Lakeview Cemetery

Patchogue, NY - October 27, 2016 - The Greater Patchogue Foundation will host a Dia de los Muertos Celebration on Saturday, November 5 to benefit the restoration of Lakeview Cemetery in Patchogue, New York. The event will take place from 7-10 p.m. in the south parking lot of the Patchogue Family YMCA.

“The event will include many of the cultural aspects of Dia de los Muerto including an altar honoring those who are buried at Lakeview Cemetery,” said Jacqueline Hensley, past president of the Greater Patchogue Foundation. “We hope to raise enough money to restore the Cemetery back to its beautiful and historic state before it fell on disrepair.”

The funds raised at the Dia de los Muertos Celebration will support the restoration of the headstones, a new fence and regular, professional landscaping. Due to weathering, vandalism and age, many of the gravestones need to be replaced and most need to be repaired.

The Celebration will include food from Toro Tapas & Tequila, The Cheese Patch and Subzero Ice Cream. Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Co. will be serving a special Mexican coffee and BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant will offer Mexican-style beer using Roast’s Mexican coffee as an ingredient. Students and faculty from St. Joseph’s College’s Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management will act as the wait staff for the night. The entertainment will include a tarot card reader, a traditional mariachi band and a photo booth from Aw Snap Booths. Raffle prizes will be available.

Tickets are $85; $100 at the door. For more information, to buy tickets or to reserve a sponsorship, visit Patchogue.com or call 631-207-1000.
