Westbury Woman Arrested for Driving Drunk with 3 Year Old in Car

Williston Park, NY - October 28th, 2014 - The Third Precinct reports the arrest of a Westbury woman for Driving While Intoxicated with a child in the vehicle that occurred on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 4:45 p.m. in Williston Park.

According to police, while driving on Hillside Avenue a Third Squad detective was informed by a passing motorist of a possible intoxicated driver. The detective came upon a 2012 Toyota Camry stopped westbound on Hillside Avenue with the front right wheel up on the curb and the engine running. Upon investigation the detective discovered the driver Danielle Kalberer, 34 of Pleasant Avenue slumped over in the driver’s seat and a three year old female child secured in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle.

Third Precinct Officers responded to assist and placed Kalberer under arrest at which time it was discovered that Kalberer was in possession of a single prescription narcotic pill. The child was released to a family member and no injuries were reported.

Kalberer is charged with Aggravated Driving Intoxicated with a child under 15, (Leandra Law), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
