Stop & Shop and the New York Islanders have announced a three-year partnership. As the official supermarket of the team, Stop & Shop is not only a sponsor, but also a partner in the community, with much of the multi-year relationship focused on eradicating hunger on Long Island.

Stop & Shop’s sponsorship will be visible via in-game signage at the new UBS Arena at Belmont Park, located on the border of Queens and Nassau County, when the Islanders play their home opener on November 20.

“We are excited to partner with the New York Islanders both on the ice and in our communities,” said Gordon Reid, President of Stop & Shop. “We look forward to working as a team to achieve the ultimate goal – eradicating hunger on Long Island.”

For every home game assist the Islanders make, Stop & Shop will donate 100 meals to Island Harvest, Long Island’s leading hunger relief organization. Additionally, the Islanders will support several of Stop & Shop’s anti-hunger initiatives, including its annual Turkey Express program which will bring thousands of turkeys to Long Islanders in need, as well as Stop & Shop’s ‘Shop with an Islander’ program where youngsters will have the ability to shop for their holiday meal with team alumni, with Stop & Shop picking up the tab. Stop & Shop will also partner with the Islanders for their annual Food Drive game taking place on November 24th.

“The Islanders believe it is our role and responsibility to help strengthen the community,” said Bryan Calka, Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships for the Islanders. “Fighting hunger is truly a team effort and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Stop & Shop.”
