Suffolk County, NY - October 27, 2016 - Yesterday, October 26, 2016, State Supreme Court Justice John Collins found Shaun Crews guilty of Robbery in the First Degree, a class B violent felony, following a non-jury trial. 

Defendant Crews is a prior violent felony offender and faces 10 to 25 years imprisonment, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said. 
 
“This defendant has spent much of his 37 years committing crimes.  Prosecutors will recommend the maximum sentence to make sure this violent criminal is off our streets for a long time,” District Attorney Spota said. 
 
On February 29, 2016 the defendant, Crews left CVS pharmacy on Montauk Highway in Shirley with $263 worth of items in a shopping cart without paying.  The manager of the CVS was alerted to the theft, followed the defendant and called the police. As the manger approached the defendant a struggle ensued over the items in the cart.  The defendant pulled a knife on the manager and threatened him.  Thereafter the defendant fled.  He was apprehended by police a short time later in possession of the knife.
 
Sentencing is scheduled for November 30, 2016.
