Three Arrested in Connection with Gang Assault of East Meadow Bar Patron, Cops Say

Central Islip, NY - October 26, 2018 - The First Squad reports the arrest of 3 men for Assault that occurred on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:45 am in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, First Precinct Police responded to the rear parking lot of Kiely’s Ale House located at 470 Newbridge Road for a fight. An investigation revealed that the defendant Jacob Devitt, 20, of Wantagh and two other males were responsible for punching, kicking, and striking a 30 year old male victim in the head with a beer bottle. The victim suffered a fractured skull, hearing loss, and lost consciousness during the incident. He was transported to a local hospital in a Nassau County Police Ambulance and treated for his injuries. Defendant Devitt was placed into police custody without incident.
 
After further investigation, on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 detectives were able to locate a second man at his Levittown home and placed defendant Michael O’Leary, into custody without incident. On Wednesday, October 24, 2018 police located a third man defendant Christopher O’Leary, 23, and placed him into police custody without incident. He was located in Bellmore.
 
Both defendants Christopher O’Leary and Michael O’Leary were both charged with Gang Assault 2nd Degree. They were arraigned on Wednesday, October, 24, 2018 at First District Court in Hempstead. Defendant Jacob Devitt was charged with Gang Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday, September 30, 2018. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
