Village of Hempstead Celebrates Annual Miss El Salvador Pageant

Hempstead, NY - October 26, 2016 - The Village of Hempstead recently celebrated the Miss El Salvador and Miss Chiquitita Pageant, hosted by the Comite Civico Saalvadoreno, Inc., an event which honors the Hispanic American community in the Village. Members of the community recently came together in the pageant to celebrate their heritage and El Salvadorian independence.


Contestants of the Miss El Salvador and Miss Chiquitita Pageant join pageant judges and esteemed members of the Village of Hempstead Civic Committee for a group photo. They were participating in the Pageant to celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage during Hispanic Heritage Month. During the ceremony Deputy Mayor Luis Figueroa thanked the contestants for positively contributing to the Hispanic community in the Village of Hempstead.

This year’s Miss El Salvador and Miss Chiquitita were each presented with a citation from the Village in acknowledgement of the event and Hispanic Heritage Month.
