Oyster Bay, NY - October 25, 2015 - Marine Bureau officers report the details of a water/land rescue that occurred on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 6:00 pm in Oyster Bay/Long Island Sound.

According to officers, three Westbury men, who launched their 16’ boat from the Oyster Bay boat ramp, became disabled after the boat suffered mechanical failure.

Marine 3 and Helicopter 5 received an assignment for a vessel in distress that was now drifting out towards the Long Island Sound. A search for the boat and its passengers was conducted and a short time later Helicopter 5 located the partially submerged vessel and the three occupants who had made it to shore in the vicinity of “The Sand Hole”, a beach area south of Lloyd Point.

After reaching the stranded boaters by land, they were all medically screened and refused further medical attention.
