Pedestrian Killed in Motor Vehicle Crash in North Lindenhurst

North Lindenhurst, NY - October 25th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in North Lindenhurst last night.

Shameek Brown was crossing New Highway, just north of New Horizon Boulevard, when he was struck by a 2007 Nissan, driven by Ray Purse, who was traveling northbound on New Highway at approximately 9:50 p.m.

Brown, 21, of Amityville, was transported via the North Lindenhurst Fire Department to Nassau University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Purse, 29, of Copiague, was not injured. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
