Man Shot in Shoulder in Wyandanch

Update: November 12th, 2013: Suffolk County Police have arrested a Wyandanch man for a shooting that injured a man in Wyandanch on October 25.  First Squad detectives charged Devon Matthews, 26, of 129 North 20th Street, Wyandanch, with Assault 1st Degree.  Matthews was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 9.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Wyandanch, NY - October 25th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating the shooting of a man that occurred in Wyandanch this morning.

First Precinct police officers responded to North 15th Street at approximately 10:25 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a man had been shot. The man, William Ballard, 35, of Wyandanch, was shot in the shoulder and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this case to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
