Police: Lawrence Woodmere Academy Teacher Sexually Assaulted Student for Several Years

Valley Stream, NY - October 19, 2018 - The Special Victims Squad reports the Arrest of a Valley Stream man for Sexual Assault that occurred on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 6:55 p.m. in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, defendant Daniel McMenamin, 33, engaged in numerous acts of sexual conduct with a juvenile female victim. These acts occurred from November of 2014 until July of 2017, beginning when the victim was 14 years old. The defendant was employed as a teacher at the Lawrence Woodmere Academy located at 336 Woodmere Blvd., Woodmere. The victim was a student at the school during the course of the acts.
 
The defendant was located by Special Victims Squad detectives at his home, at which time he refused to exit the residence. Arrangements to surrender to detectives were made by the defendant’s attorney. The defendant was taken into custody without further incident.
 
Defendant Daniel McMenamin is charged with three (3) counts of Criminal Sexual Act 2nd Degree, three (3) counts of Rape 2nd Degree, twenty-four (24) counts of Criminal Sexual Act 3rd Degree, twenty-four (24) counts of Rape 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Friday, October 19, 2018 at First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
