NCPD: Three Brooklyn Men Arrested in Seaford After Buying Gift Cards with Counterfeit Money

Seaford, NY - October 19, 2017 - The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of three Brooklyn men for Grand Larceny that occurred in Seaford on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:20 am in Seaford.
 
According to detectives, Seventh Precinct Police responded to the CVS store located at 2250 Seaman Neck Road for a call of three men entering and exiting the store buying gift cards with counterfeit money. Upon police arrival three men matching a description were observed sitting in a parked 2013 BMW parked outside the store. 
 
After an investigation with the assistance of the Nassau County Robbery Squad Forgery detectives it was revealed that the defendants Leon Samuels, 23 Ackeem Samuels, 22, and Akeim Sturkey, 26, were in possession of multiple 50 and 100 counterfeit dollar bills. The defendants used the money to purchase assorted merchandise and gift cards. All three defendants were placed into police custody without incident.
 
Akeem Samuels is charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged instrument 1st Degree. Leon Samuels and Akeim Sturkey are both charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree. All three men will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, October 19, 2017.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
