Mt. Sinai, NY - October 19, 2015 - Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Hope Children’s Fund on Saturday, October 10th, at the Mt. Sinai Heritage Center for their Cake, Coffee & Crafts event. The fundraiser included a mix of blues, jazz, reggae and folk music, pastries, Kenyan coffee, and Kenya crafts. The event educated attendees about the efforts of Hope Children’s Fund during their recent trip to Kenya and about the ongoing work of the organizations.

“I am very supportive of the Hope Children’s Fund and their tireless efforts to help children in Meru, Kenya,” said Legislator Anker. “The Hope Children’s Fund provides educational opportunities, as well physical and emotional support to those in need.”

The nonprofit Hope Children’s Fund was established in 2000 when Joseph Kirima Rwito and Lawrence Hohler discussed the need for a children’s home and school for the young people living on the streets of Meru, Kenya. The organization provides food, clothing and shelter to children living in poverty in Meru. The organization gives children the opportunity to enroll on school and provides them with the tools to be productive adults.
