Man Busted by Cops Allegedly Attempting to Flee Supermarket with Two Full Shopping Carts

West Hempstead, NY - October 18, 2018 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Lakeview man on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 10:50pm in West Hempstead.
 
According to Detectives, defendant Frank Sanders, 53, did enter the Stop & Shop Supermarket located at 50 Cherry Valley Avenue West Hempstead and was observed by store employees placing items into two shopping carts. The defendant passed all points of sale without paying for said items.
 
Defendant Sanders was arrested by Officers in the parking lot as he attempted to flee the scene with the proceeds. Defendant Sanders was observed via video surveillance on September 26, 2018, September 29, 2018 and October 2, 2018 exiting the same store without paying for additional store items on each of those three days.
 
Defendant Frank Sanders is charged with Grand Larceny, three counts of Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. He will be arraigned as medically practical.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
