Murder Trial Opens in Riverhead Tomorrow for Bay Shore Man Accused of Robbing and Fatally Shooting Prostitute at a LI Hotel

Bay Shore, NY - October 18, 2016 - Opening statements in the trial of a Bay Shore man accused of robbing and fatally shooting a woman working as a prostitute in a Bohemia hotel three years ago are scheduled for tomorrow morning (Wednesday,10/19) in Riverhead, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Stoker Olukotun-Williams, 27, is charged in an eight-count indictment with first and second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm in the first degree and three counts of first-degree robbery.

Olukotun-Williams allegedly shot Shalece Cunningham, 24, to death at the MacArthur Inn at 4444 Veterans Memorial Hwy.

“He took the life of a young woman and he tried to kill the pair of police officers who responded to the scene,” said District Attorney Spota. “He began firing at the officers but his handgun jammed shortly after he opened fire.” 

Neither officer was wounded.

State Supreme Court Justice William Condon (fourth floor of the courthouse) will preside at trial.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
