Officials Announce Westbury Man Arrested for Impersonating Police Officer

Carle Place, NY - October 16, 2017 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Westbury man for criminal impersonation that occurred in Carle Place on Saturday, 10/14/17 at 4:15 P.M.
 
According to detectives, Anthony Scott, 37, while operating a grey 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, attempted to pull over a male driver on the Northern State Parkway by activating a red and blue flashing light on the dashboard. The victim exited and stopped at a red light at Glen Cove Rd./Old Country Rd., when the defendant exited his vehicle and walked to the driver side window producing a gold and blue colored shield in his hand along with a black colored handgun. The subject demanded the victim exit his vehicle at which point the victim immediately fled the scene in his auto and called police.
 
Third Precinct police officers located the defendant in his vehicle on Wetherill Rd. in Garden City a short time later, where he was placed under arrest. The fake police shield was recovered. A firearm was not recovered.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
Scott is being charged with Criminal Impersonation, Menacing 2nd Degree and will be arraigned on Sunday, 10/15/17 in First District Court, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
