Nassau County Police Dept: Hit & Run in Syosset Under Investigation

Syosset, NY - October 15th, 2013 - The Second Squad is investigating a Leaving the Scene of an Accident that occurred on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11:52 a.m. in Syosset.

According to detectives, a Nassau County Highway Patrol Officer was conducting a Vehicle and Traffic Law investigation eastbound on the Expressway South Service Road, west of South Oyster Bay Road. The officer was standing outside his vehicle, which was stopped with the emergency lights illuminating, when a large truck carrying pipes struck the officer causing him to fall to the ground. The truck continued east without stopping. The officer radio for assistance and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for injuries to his head, neck and back.
