3 Arrests Made during "Project 21" for Selling Alcohol & Tobacco to Minors

The Eighth Precinct Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit reports the Arrest of three (3) individuals during the “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors that occurred on Thursday, October 13, 2022 within the confines of Nassau County.
 
The following individuals were arrested as a result of this operation:
 
 Iqbal Asim, 30, of 61 Elizabeth Drive, Bethpage sold a Vaping product to
a child at Evergreen located at 199 Merrits Road, Farmingdale. He is charged with Unlawfully selling Tobacco to a Child.
 
 Anil Bansal, 49, of 44 Gables Drive, Hicksville sold Alcohol to a child at the Ultra Gas Station located at 3300 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown. He is charged with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child with Alcohol.
 
 Alaatdin Akkaya, 59, of 7 Marissa Court, Holbrook sold Alcohol and a Vaping product to a child at OK Petroleum located at 767 Wantagh Avenue, Wantagh. He is charged with Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage to a child, Unlawfully Dealing with a Child with Alcohol and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child with Tobacco.
 
All of the above individuals were released on Appearance Tickets and are due back in First District Court, Hempstead on November 28, 2022.
