NCPD Arrest Suspect for Burglarizing New Cassel Church

New Cassel, NY - October 14th, 2014 - Third Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for burglary and trespassing that occurred in New Cassel on Sunday, 08/31/14 at 7:30 P.M. and Monday, 10/13/14 at 1:50 P.M., respectively.

According to detectives, Raleigh Maddox, 44, of Third Ave., New Cassel, entered Eglise Baptist Haiti Enne Church located at 859 Prospect Ave., by prying open the front door.  Once inside, the defendant removed audio/visual equipment valued at approximately $12,000.  On 10/13/14, the defendant entered a residence on Second Ave. by breaking the front door.  A witness notified police, who then found the defendant hiding in the home.  Maddox was placed under arrest at the scene and gave police a fictitious name.  Officers were later able to identify the defendant through fingerprinting.

Maddox is being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree, False Personation and Violation of Parole.  He will be arraigned on Tuesday, 10/14/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
