Mount Sinai, NY - October 14, 2016 - EAC Network and Mount Sinai High School will join forces on October 14th from 9am to 1pm to promote safe driving habits for all students and staff.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens age 14-18 in the U.S. EAC Network’s Teen Driving Equation program cultivates and enforces positive driving skills and responsibilities among teens so they develop safe driving habits. Along with The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Troopers, Cox Media Group WBLI, and Sprague Operating Resources LLC, EAC Network will provide hands-on activities that will simulate the dangers of inexperienced, distracted, and impaired driving. Students will have the opportunity to navigate go-carts while texting on their phones through a prearranged driving course. Special blurred goggles will also allow students to experience the effects of alcohol and drugs on their vision while operating a motor vehicle.

“Teen Driving Equation provides awareness events to promote safe driving decisions and to prevent injuries and fatalities among our youth,” said Rachel Lugo, Division Director of Family Support & Vocational Services, EAC Network. “It takes a village to keep our children safe and we are proud to be a part of the team along with law enforcement, local businesses, and the Mount Sinai School District.”
