Smithtown, NY - October 12, 2014 - At the request of Fairfield St. James, Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta recently hosted a Senior Information Fair for its residents. Town and county government offices, as well as other agencies providing services and programs for seniors participated. The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department issued Senior Emergency ID Cards, collected unwanted medications and offered information about their Project Lifesaver Program. Residents also had their blood pressure checked by a registered nurse from St. Catherine of Sienna Medical Center and learned about healthy eating and nutrition from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County. More than 200 people attended the event.

Legislator Trotta would like to also thank the other participating organizations that shared their resources with the residents: Suffolk County Office of the Aging, Suffolk County Office of Veterans Services, Town of Smithtown Senior Center, Family Service League, Senior Net, St. Johnland Adult Day Programs, Catholic Health Services, the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, Val Manzo, Esq., Savvy Sightseer, and the Golden Guide.

“I am grateful to Fairfield St. James for having us and I think this venue provided a great opportunity to bring together the programs and services available to seniors in one setting,” said Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta.
