Mount Sinai, NY - October 11, 2016 - On Thursday, October 6th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Mount Sinai Civic Association for their 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Willow Creek Golf and Country Club in Mount Sinai. The event included a presentation of the history of the Mount Sinai Civic and a special ceremony honoring civic leaders Fred Drewes, Lori Baldassare, and Deirdre DuBato for their longtime dedication to the community.

“The Mount Sinai Civic Association has been instrumental in many of the projects and development plans for the community,” said Legislator Anker. “As a past civic board member, I know first-hand how truly dedicated the members are to improving quality of life for residents in Mount Sinai.”

The Mount Sinai Civic Association, incorporated on October 5, 1916, was established as an outgrowth of the Mount Sinai Taxpayers Association which was organized in 1907 for the express purposes of obtaining better roads, improving conditions in the harbor, and adopting means of protection against fires. Over its 100 year history, the Civic has worked tirelessly on quality of life issues for the residents of Mount Sinai, and successfully worked to protect our coastal environment, establish community parks and preserves, and maintain a balanced level of development.
