NCPD Investigating New Hyde Park Motorcycle Accident
New Hyde Park, NY - October 11th, 2014 - The Third Squad is investigating a Serious Auto Accident involving a Motorcyclist that occurred on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 6:30 pm.
According to detectives a 24 year old male was operating his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle west on Union Turnpike near Lakeville Road when he was struck by a 62 year old male travelling east on Union Avenue attempting to make a left onto Lakeville Road. After being struck the motorcyclist then struck a 2009 Ford pickup and a 2010 Mercury that were both stopped at a red traffic light southbound on Lakeville Road. The cyclist was transported to a local hospital in a Nassau County Police Ambulance and treated for multiple injuries. He is listed in critical but stable condition. No other injuries reported.
The Yamaha motorcycle was impounded for a brake safety check. The investigation is ongoing.
