Nassau County Police Dept: Roosevelt Man Arrested for Arson in Lynbrook

Lynbrook, NY - October 11th, 2013 - Arson/Bomb Squad detectives report the arrest of a Roosevelt man for an Arson that occurred on September 28, 2013 at 7:54 am in Lynbrook.
According to detectives, the Lynbrook Police Department responded to a fire alarm at the Holiday Inn Express, 1 Sunrise Highway. Upon arrival it was discovered that smoke and water were coming from room 114 and an evacuation of the building was conducted. The Lynbrook Fire Department responded and gained entry to the rented, but unoccupied room and assisted the automatic sprinklers in extinguishing the fire. There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.

The Nassau County Fire Marshall responded to the scene and the fire was deemed suspicious in nature.

A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to the arrest of Diquan Booker, 25, of 290 E. Clinton Avenue. He was located today, 10/10/2013, in a vehicle on Charles Lindburgh Boulevard at 12:45 pm and placed into custody without incident. During his arrest, Booker was found to be in possession of Marijuana.

Booker is charged with Arson 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and an unrelated warrant charge. He will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 10/11/2013.
