SCPD Hate Crime Alert: Threatening Letters Sent to Long Island GLBT Network

Bay Shore, NY - October 10th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit detectives are investigating an incident during which a threatening letter was sent to the Long Island Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Services Network in Bay Shore yesterday and are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the person or persons responsible.

A letter, addressed to the CEO, was sent the Long Island GLBT, located at 34 Park Ave., yesterday. The letter is the third letter received in approximately 18 months and threatened violence.

Detectives are investigating the incident and are asking anyone with information about the person or persons responsible to call the Hate Crimes Unit at 631-852-6181 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
