Track Work Means Reduced Service on Huntington-Port Jeff Branch this Saturday, Oct. 12 thru Monday, Oct. 13

Port Jeff, NY - October 10th, 2013 - Service on the Huntington - Port Jefferson Branch will be significantly reduced between this weekend between 12:53 AM on Saturday, October 12 and 2:52 AM on Monday, October 14 so that the Long Island Rail Road can carry out a major switch replacement project.

Train service between Port Jefferson and Huntington will run once every two hours instead the regular weekend interval of once every 90 minutes. Trains between Huntington and Hicksville will run once an hour rather than the regular headway of 30 minutes.

Some weekend trains will be canceled and buses will replace some trains between Huntington and Hicksville. Customers should expect up to 30 minutes of additional travel time. It’s important that they listen for announcements and follow the directions of LIRR personnel.

Customers should pick up a copy of the special Port Jefferson Switch Replacement Timetable or find it on the MTA LIRR website at the following link. if they are traveling on  Full service and regular trains schedules will be restored on Monday after 2:52 AM.
