Mastic Beach, NY - October 9, 2015 - The William Floyd varsity girls tennis team continues to dominate their opponents in their quest to repeat as Suffolk County champions as evidenced by finishing the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. Under the leadership of head coach Dave Pia, the reigning Newsday and United States Tennis Association (USTA) Eastern Section LI Region Coach of the Year, girls tennis has gone undefeated in regular season play twice in the last three years, have won both the league and division titles for four consecutive years and qualified for the playoffs 13 years in a row. They are currently ranked No. 1 on all of Long Island by Newsday and are No. 7 in Gregg Sarra’s “Big 10” high school teams for all Long Island sports. Team playoffs start in two weeks but the action continues as William Floyd hosts the Individual Conference Tournament on October 10-12 and the Individual County Tournament on October 17-18.
