LeadingAge New York Presents Employee of Distinction Award To Our Lady of Consolation Employee

West Islip, NY - October 9th, 2013 - On Monday, October 7, 2013, LeadingAge  New York, formerly (NYAHSA),  presented their Employee of Distinction Award to Bill Kelly at Our Lady of Consolation Nursing & Rehabilitative Care. Bill has been employed with Our Lady of Consolation since 2006 as the Director of Plant Operations/Security and exemplifies all of the qualities that Our Lady of Consolation desires in their employees while personifying their Mission.

Bill is a mentor and coach to his staff and his method of mentoring allows him to develop relationships at many levels that foster trust and confidence in his ability to support all levels of staff. His dedication to his work is evidenced by his availability and actions to improve the conditions for the residents. His priority is always the safety of the residents and their needs and how the facility appears to the public. He provides calm, thoughtful leadership allowing for open discussion to the staff,” stated a co-worker.

The Employee of Distinction Award was created to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of staff working with LeadingAge New York.  It’s an opportunity to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to make personal sacrifices to improve the lives of others. The selection committee consisted of representatives from the legislature, the Office of the Aging and other long-term care associations.

Our Lady of Consolation is a 450-bed nursing and rehabilitative care center conducted in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Dominic since 1894 and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). As a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Our Lady of Consolation plays an integral role in the health care delivery system of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and offers expertise in the field of long term care and sub-acute care. In addition to skilled nursing home care including geriatric care, rehabilitative care, respiratory therapy and medically complex care, Our Lady of Consolation offers specialized dementia disease care for individuals with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and related dementia diseases.
