Mangano and Inn Keepers to Announce the 5 Pound Bavarian Sandwich Challenge for LI's Oktoberfest Festival with Traditional German Music & Food

East Meadow, NY - October 7, 2016 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, along with German American Organizations dressed in dirndl dresses and lederhosen, and the Milleridge Inn Keeper Butch Yamali, will announce the return of Long Island’s largest Oktoberfest, at a press conference on Friday, October 7th, 2:00 PM at Eisenhower Park Field 6. They will also introduce the Bavarian 5 Pound Food Challenge, a foot high sandwich with sauerbraten, bratwurst, sausage and red cabbage on pretzel bread with mustard that dates back to the 19th century. Any resident that can eat it in five minutes does not have to pay for it. 

The Long Island Oktoberfest celebration, takes place this weekend with almost a hundred thousand residents and visitors attending at the 930 acre Eisenhower Park. There will be beer gardens, traditional food, music, a pumpkin maze, tractor rides and a performance by the John Weber Band. Nassau County Eisenhower Park is bigger than Central Park .
