17-Year-Old Dies in Motor Vehicle Crash in Brentwood

Brentwood, NY - October 6, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a 17-year-old in Brentwood today.

Anil John was apparently pulled off the roadway of Crooked Hill Road after having been involved in a minor motor vehicle crash where the other vehicle left the scene. John exited his 2011 Hyundai Sonata and was struck by a southbound 2009 Ford driven by Thomas Stapleton.

Stapleton, 81, of East Northport, was transported by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, for observation. John, 17, of Islip, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. The investigation is continuing.
