SCPD: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Crash

East Patchogue, NY - October 6, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in East Patchogue this afternoon.
 
Steven Demartino was riding his 1984 Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Montauk Highway when he was struck by a westbound 2010 Volkswagen that was attempting to turn left into the Valero gas station, located at 1164 Montauk Highway, at approximately 3:55 p.m.
 
Demartino, 53, of Selden, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen, Thomas Difalco, 62, of Ronkonkoma, was not injured.
 
Detectives believe sun glare was a contributing factor in the crash. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
