Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash in Selden

Selden, NY - October 6th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist last night.

James Barter was travelling westbound on a 2013 Harley Davidson on Middle Country Road near Boyle Road in Selden at approximately 9:15 p.m. when Alfred Versandi, operating a 2013 Jeep Liberty, was driving eastbound on Middle Country Road and turned left onto Boyle Road. The two vehicles collided and the motorcycle overturned.
 
Barter, 52, of Centereach was transported by Selden Fire Department Rescue Squad to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. Versandi, 52, of Selden was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and this investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
