Police: Karate Teacher Arrested for Sexual Abuse of 14-Year-Old Student

Oakdale, NY - October 5, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Thursday, October 4 arrested a karate teacher for sexually abusing a student last month.
 
Michael Carretto, a karate teacher at Dragon’s Gate Martial Arts Academy, located at 4616 Sunrise Highway South Service Road, Oakdale, inappropriately touched a 14-year-old female student on September 11, 2018.
 
Special Victims Section detectives arrested Carretto tonight at the Seventh Precinct in Shirley at approximately 5:17 p.m.
 
Carretto, 26, of Ronkonkoma was charged with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 5.
 
Detectives are asking anyone who might have been a victim of Carretto to contact the Special Victims Section at 631-852-6531.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
