Written by Long Island News & PR  |  06. October 2015

Westbury, NY - October 5, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today announced support for the 700 Nassau County residents that face unemployment and displacement as A&P, which owns Waldbaum’s and Pathmark on Long Island, begins closing stores due to bankruptcy and liquidation. To support workers, a Resource Fair will take place on October 7th, 2015 at the Union Hall of Local 1500 UFCW in Westbury. The fair is hosted by the UFCW/RWDSU, in partnership with the New York State Department of Labor and Nassau County Department of Social Services.

“Nassau County’s Department of Social Services is ready to assist A&P workers who face an extremely uncertain time,” said County Executive Mangano. “I encourage workers to visit the Resource Fair on October 7th, prepare for the private sector job fair hosted by Nassau County on October 23rd and download the NassauWorks application on their smartphone and tablet to view the thousands of job opportunities in our area.”

The Resource Fair will offer displaced A&P workers assistance with resume writing, job applications, job search, health care information and obtaining new skills. A&P workers will also receive in-depth information to members about how to sign up for programs designed to help them and their families.

For more information about participating in the Resource Fair for A&P workers, please contact Fallon Ager at UFCW/RWDSU at (646) 210-8103.
