According to Police, the Marine Bureau received a distress call for a 21’ Wellcraft boat that had just capsized with two persons and a 14 month old brown colored male Cane Corso dog onboard.
The boat was located near the Meadowbrook 3 Bridge in Reynolds Channel. The crew pulled the two victims from the water and advised Officers that their dog was missing. The crew conducted a search but did not find the dog. Officers believing the dog was trapped underneath the vessel secured the vessel in place to prevent a break in an air pocket that may have formed under the vessel. The crew with the assistance of Tow Boat US was able to right the vessel and observed the dog alive inside the boat. The crew secured the dog and transported the owner and dog to Mako Marine in Freeport.
Both victims refused medical treatment and the dog was taken by his owner to the animal hospital for evaluation.
