Woman Arrested for Twice Attempting to Burglarize Hicksville Residence, Cops Say

Hicksville, NY - October 3, 2018 - The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Hicksville woman for a Burglary that occurred on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in Hicksville.
 
According to detectives, a 14 year old victim was in her home when a female subject knocked on the front door and attempted to open it to gain entry. The victim was able to close and lock the door. The subject also made an attempt to enter on September 19, 2018 by moving a window air conditioner and reaching for the door handle. The door began to open when the victim was able to close the door and stop the subject from gaining entry. The victim called her mother on both occasions who then called 911.
 
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Erica Mendoza-Yanes, 42.
 
The Defendant, Erica Mendoza-Yanes is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 03, 2018 in First District Court in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
