Officials: Man Killed When Vehicle Strikes Parked Car, Building in Commack

Commack, NY - October 2, 2017 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in Commack on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 12:33 a.m.
 
A man was driving a 2004 Nissan Quest eastbound on Jericho Turnpike when he lost control of the vehicle and struck an unoccupied, parked 2011 Ford pickup truck and the building located at 1029 West Jericho Turnpike. The vehicle then caught fire.
 
The man, who was alone in his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identification will be determined by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. There were two people in the building at the time of the crash and they were not injured.
 
Firefighters from Commack, Greenlawn, Dix Hills, East Northport, Smithtown and Kings Park responded. Commack Ambulance also responded.
