House Fire in Islip Under Investigation, One Person Dead

Islip, NY - October 2, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a person in Islip yesterday.

Suffolk County Police were called to a house fire at 150 Main St., at approximately 3 p.m. A person inside was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. An autopsy will be performed. The identity of the person cannot be confirmed at this time until further tests are conducted by the Medical Examiner's Office.

The investigation is continuing, but the fire is believed to be non-criminal.
