Everyone has an opinion on bagels, the signature breakfast item of Long Island. If there was an official Long Island banner it would most-likely feature a bagel. (And maybe pizza and a seagull.)

Your favorite might be an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. Or the ubiquitous BEC with SPK. But invariably, a Long Islanders favorite breakfast will include the bagel. We even debate what makes Long Island bagels better than ones that are made elsewhere. Read: Why does Long Island have the best bagels?

You might wonder why this iconic bread has never had a con dedicated to it. Like a Comic-Con for bagels. If you have pondered this question, ponder no more!

BagelFest is coming to Brooklyn this Saturday, October 2 from 9:30am  to 3:30pm. The bash for bagels will take place at City Point BKLYN STUDIOS. Tickets are $35 for a three-hour session to sample more than 20 bagel and bagel-related foods and beverages.

While there will be items on hand other than bagels - like vegan samplings and beer vendors - the star of the show is the almighty bagel. You can also participate in bagel-themed games and exclusive activities.

Bagel Boss, a local bagel shop with more than 10 locations on Long Island (they also have four shops in Manhattan and one soon to open in New Jersey), will be at BagelFest on Saturday giving out samples.

“For those who can’t make it to BagelFest we offer free nationwide shipping of our bagels,” said a representative of BagelBoss.

Bagel Boss’ Bagel of the Month Club will deliver across the country. So no matter where you or your relatives live, you can get the authentic taste of Long Island’s favorite bagel.

BagelFest will run from 9:30am to 3:30pm on Saturday, October 2 at City Point BKLYN STUDIOS located at 445 Albee Square W, Brooklyn. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased online. Kids under 12 are free. Proof of vaccination required for entry.
