Two Seniors at St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School Earn All-State Music Honors

West Islip, NY - September 14, 2016 - St. John the Baptist D.H.S. seniors Julie Sandkuhl and Hannah Crews were both selected as All-State representatives through the New York State School Music Association. Julie Sandkuhl was selected as a member of the All-State symphony orchestra for her work on the violin. Hannah Crews was selected as an alternate
soprano for the women’s chorus.

“It is wonderful to have two of our students selected for this high honor. Not only do they work hard preparing in the months leading up to the solo festival, but over years to build musicianship skills to do well on the sight-reading component and improve their technique and artistry,” said Mr. Chris Donohue, Chairman of the Performing Arts Department at St. John’s.

The two selected students will perform in the prestigious Kodak Hall of the Eastman Theatre. Principal Nan Doherty stated that, “It gives me great joy to congratulate these wonderful students for being chosen to be a part of this prestigious event. This distinction is a testament to all their hard work and dedication to their craft.”
