Police Announce Arrest Made in Connection with Deadly Hempstead Residential Fire

The Nassau County Police Department reports that an arrest has been made in connection with a residential house fire that resulted in one death and two injuries.
 
On Monday, September 26, 2022 in Hempstead, officers responded to a house fire located at 103 Front Street at 6:30 am. Upon arrival, Officers observed the house to be fully engulfed in flames due to a fire that started in a second-floor bedroom. 
 
The Hempstead Fire Department along with South Hempstead, West Hempstead, Uniondale and Roosevelt Fire Departments responded and extinguished the flames. 
 
A female victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A male victim was transported to a local area hospital after receiving burns to his face, hands and arms. Another male victim was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries to his ankles from jumping out of a second story window. 
 
Police report that Defendant Daryle McClenic, 35, of 105 Front Street, Hempstead has been arrested for the above listed incident after following an investigation and is charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree. 
 
He was arraigned on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
