Babylon Man Paid for Convenience Store Transaction with Counterfeit $100 Bill, Police Say

Seaford, NY - September 25, 2017 - According to Detectives, defendant Nicholas Russo, 30, of Babylon while operating his 2008 Nissan Sentra pulled into the drive-thru of The Barn Convenience store located at 3990 Jerusalem Avenue, Seaford and ordered ice tea and cigarettes.  
 
When the male employee approached the vehicle for payment, the defendant handed the employee/victim a fraudulent $100 bill. The defendant then grabbed out of the victim’s hand the US Currency that he brought over as ‘change’ for the transaction. The defendant in possession of the proceeds drove away at high rate of speed out of the driveway. No injuries were reported.
 
Detectives arrested defendant Russo at his residence at 4:35pm on Friday, September 22, 2017. He is charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st Degree and Grand Larceny Fourth Degree.  He was arraigned on Saturday, September 23, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
