Roosevelt, NY - September 23rd, 2014 - First Squad detectives report the arrest of a Roosevelt man for an Assault that occurred on September 22, 2014 at 7:12 pm in Roosevelt.

According to detectives, Robert Day, 24, of E. Roosevelt Avenue, who has had an ongoing dispute with the 34 year old male victim, became involved in a verbal dispute with him. The dispute then escalated to a physical confrontation. Day grabbed the victim around the neck and threw him to the ground causing him to suffer a spinal cord injury which paralyzed him from the neck down.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Day, who was at the scene upon police arrival, was placed under arrest without incident.

The defendant, who is charged with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree, will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 09/23/2014.
